Oakland Roots got on the front foot early with a strike from Darek Formella in the 13th minute. A free kick from Juan Azocar found Formella at the back post who buried the goal on the volley to give Oakland the 1-0 lead. Oakland continued to put on the pressure for the next 15 minutes before El Paso worked their way into control. Not long after El Paso found their feet they found an equalizer when Solignac found his way in on goal and his shot deflected in off Danny Barbir to give the host the equalizer. Late in the first half Alejandro Fuenmayor conceded a penalty that lucky for Roots was hit off the bar as the teams went into the half level at 1-1.
The second half was a slower affair from both sides with the best chance coming in the 74th minute when Roots keeper Benny Diaz came up with a huge double save to ensure Oakland went home with a point.
Roots return to Laney College to host Colorado Springs next Saturday April 30th with kickoff set for 7:00 PM PT.
