Oakland Roots set to celebrate Latin heritage month with Conoce Tus Raices night against Las Vegas Lights FC.
Oakland Roots return home to Laney for the last of four games against Las Vegas Lights in 2021. The opening match between the two sides was taken by Vegas on July 10th as Roots was going through league health and safety protocols and had a limited roster. With the full team available Oakland came back and took the next two on the road in Vegas by a score of 3-1 on August 21st and 1-0 on September 8th.

Oakland Roots are coming off a difficult 90th minute goal away in Orange County that cost the team any chance at points and closing the gap on third place in the Pacific Division. The good news is that Sacramento and Tacoma both lost which meant Roots remained in the fourth and final playoff spot despite the loss to Orange County until Wednesday night. LA Galaxy II beat Phoenix to jump into the fourth place spot with the midweek win. Roots currently sit in fifth place on 30 points, two points behind LA. Ariel Mbuma scored the lone goal on Saturday for Roots to bring him level for the team lead in goals with his fourth on the season.
