Oakland Roots Latest: Oakland Roots return to El Paso the site of their 2021 USL Playoff upset. Last season Roots snuck into the playoffs on the last day of the season and were matched up against the side from West Texas in the first round. Oakland pulled off what some consider one of the biggest upsets in league playoff history when they knocked off the top seed 1-0 courtesy of a Jeremy Bokila goal late in the game. Roots El Paso native Memo Diaz returns to his hometown and his former team with whom he featured on 12 occasions.
