Oakland, CA – Oakland Roots Sports Club is excited to announce a new brand partnership making the Moxy Oakland Downtown the official hotel for the purpose-driven men’s soccer team. The 172-room experiential Moxy Oakland Downtown Hotel, part of a bold franchise by Marriott International, will be the exclusive visiting team hotel and preferred location for hosting off-site meetings and club events for Oakland Roots SC. Moxy Oakland Downtown will also present Moxy Moments, a social media campaign highlighting activities in Oakland’s Arts and Entertainment District, along with Music by Moxy featuring live, local performers at select Oakland Roots home soccer games.
“When exploring new partners, we wanted a hotel featuring walkable destinations with easy access to local businesses, restaurants and cultural amenities, and Moxy Oakland Downtown matched those goals,” said Andrea Lepore, VP of Brand Partnerships. “From their commitment to supporting local artists to their design-driven approach to hospitality, our brands are perfectly aligned, and we’re excited to host visiting USL teams, along with club community events all while bringing live music to our games throughout the season thanks to our partnership with Moxy.”
Positioned on the corner of Telegraph and West Grand Avenues, the hotel is located at a vibrant crossroads of award-winning restaurants, music venues, art galleries, boutique shops and theaters. All interior and exterior hotel designs embrace and reflect the creative urban vitality of the dynamic neighborhood, making it the ideal location for showcasing the best of Oakland to out-of-town guests like visiting sports teams.
“We’re always looking for exciting local partnerships and group contracts that vibe with our values and identity,” explained Rex Maxion, Regional Sales Director for Graves Hospitality covering the Moxy Oakland Downtown. “Oakland Roots SC has a mission to harness the magic of Oakland and the power of sports as a social force for good, and that’s exactly the kind of energy and positivity we embrace at the Moxy Hotel.”
