Learn how blind athletes play soccer
The United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) in conjunction with Anthem will be showcasing blind soccer. Stop by our booth and check out:
- The official soccer ball for blind soccer.
- Eyeshades that all blind and visually impaired soccer players wear. (These eyeshades ensure a level playing field for all competitors).
- An authentic International Blind Sports Association World Games medal with braille engraving. (For the blind and visually impaired, the medals can include braille, tactile notches or different sounds for gold, silver and bronze.)

Experience blind soccer for yourself. Prior to game time, USABA is giving Roots fans the opportunity to try blind soccer. See if you can score a goal wearing the eyeshades and kicking an official soccer ball for the blind. You may not see it, but you’ll hear the ball move. Check it out next to the Roots playing field.
Remember to watch the Halftime Event – a blind soccer demonstration by USABA and the fan favorite hot dog toss.
