Oakland Roots look to get their first points in 2022 as they head to Tennessee to take on Memphis 901 FC. Oakland Roots dropped their first game of the season last Saturday as they faced Rio Grande Valley FC away in the season opener. The Toros won the game 1-0 in a match where Oakland struggled to find an offensive rhythm.
Oakland Roots added two players on loan this week. One from Venezia FC of Serie A in the form of Mikael Tørset Johnsen and one from Club Tijuana of Liga MX in the form of Benny Diaz.
About Memphis:
This marks the first time that the two sides will meet in USL Championship play. Memphis who is coached by Ben Pirmann lost their opening match by a score of 3-0 following a red card to Memphis’ Graham Smith in the first half. The side from Tennessee is coming off a season where they finished third in the Central Division before being knocked out of the playoff in the first round by Charlotte.
