Oakland Roots Sports Club Celebrate the Announcement of an October International Friendly at the Oakland Coliseum featuring CD Chivas and Club America

The Match was made possible by Oakland Roots SC’s $700,000 investment in the Coliseum to convert the field to Soccer from Baseball in 2025.

Oakland Roots’ investment in the Oakland Coliseum brings another International Friendly to Oakland as Club America and Club Deportivo Chivas de Guadalajara of Liga MX are set to face off on October 4th. 

Last September, Mexico took on Japan with nearly 50,000 people packing the Coliseum as tickets sold out quickly. The ability for Oakland, Alameda County, and the East Bay to get matches like this would not have been possible without Roots’ investment in converting the field to soccer ahead of the 2025 season. The Club spent approximately $700,000 to retrofit the Coliseum field to allow for soccer and pave the way for Mexico and Japan to come in 2025 and Chivas vs Club América in 2026.

Oakland Roots and Soul Season Ticket Members will receive priority access to purchase tickets for the upcoming Chivas vs Club America match through an exclusive presale beginning Thursday, August 27th. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, August 28th.
