Roots Look to Build Winning Streak at Home Versus Orange County SC

Following a 1-0 road win over San Antonio FC last Saturday, Roots will look to make it two in a row this Saturday, August 29th when Orange County SC comes to the Oakland Coliseum for a 5 PM PT fixture.

Roots have not had back-to-back wins since the first two matches of the 2026 campaign, and will look to do so in a matchup that historically has nearly always decided a winner, as in 16 previous matchups only a single one has ever resulted in a draw.

Orange County enters the match sitting in third place on the Western Conference table and holding a 9-7-5 (W-D-L) record. But it has been a rough month for OC, who have lost three straight and been outscored 11-3 in those matches.

Saturday will provide an opportunity then, for Oakland to jumpstart an offense that was among the elite of the league in the early season, but has slowed down in recent matches.

Entering the match with a 6-8-8 record and holding the 10th place position in the Western Conference, Oakland will look to one of their stars to make history and put them within striking distance of a playoff berth as the season enters its final phase.

With a goal in their last match, Roots striker Peter Wilson has put himself just one goal shy of tying Johnny Rodriguez’s 31 goals for the all-time lead in club history.

Paired with the fact that Wilson has been known to put together extended scoring streaks when he gets going, Saturday’s contest could present the perfect conditions to catalyze an offensive resurgence from Roots.

Following the match Oakland will observe a bye week before returning to action at home once again for their next match on Saturday, September 12th at 7 PM PT when Roots play host to visiting Lexington SC.
