Oakland, CA – Oakland Roots sign right back Edgardo Rito to the squad as preparations continue for the 2022 USL Championship season. Rito got his start with Atletico El Vigia in the academy before making 26 appearances for the senior team. Rito spent the 2019 and 2020 season in USL with New York Red Bulls II where he made 34 appearances scoring on two occasions.
“Edgardo is someone who knows the league and also has international experience,” said Head Coach Juan Guerra about the new signing. “His athleticism, power, speed and versatility make him a very important asset for us and a very good fit for the team and the league.”
In 2016 Rito joined Yaracuyanos FC of the Venzualan second division. He was then loaned to Mineros de Guayana for the subsequent season. During his stint with Mineros, Rito helped the club qualify to the Round of 16 of the Copa Venezuela. In 2017 he was loaned out to Colombian side Patriotas Boyacá. He appeared in 26 matches in all competitions, including an appearance in the Copa Sudamericana. For the 2018 season Rito returned to Venezuela joining Metropolitanos FC where he appeared in 17 matches for the club. Most recently Rito was with Patriotas Boyacá in Colombia.
